The silence in the dunes of Meijendel

From Scheveningen you can make a nice bike ride through the natural surroundings. You drive through Meijendel and some beautiful estates around Wassenaar.

Beautiful Meijendel
The route starts in Scheveningen, the perfect base for exploring the Dutch coast. A little later you can cycle straight into Meijendel, a vast and varied dune and nature reserve. In the lee behind the dune there is still a deep silence! Sometimes you hear the wind, sometimes you hear the melodious song of birds such as the nightingale, reed bunting and warbler. It's nice to make miles here!

Fire Museum
Just outside Wassenaar, you can take a look at Landgoed De Raephorst, which is now part of Royal Landgoed De Horsten. Further on you will pass Huize de Paauw, a striking white country house whose origins date back to the sixteenth century. Today, Wassenaar's town hall is located here, in the basement is the Fire Brigade Museum, which was founded in 1923. In the wooded area you will pass De Wittenburg country estate, before you cycle through the beautiful and cozy Scheveningen.
