Description

The Kromme Rijnstreek is a wonderful place to cycle. You will find a landscape of vast meadows, orchards and waterways. This area also has a rich cultural history. For example, there are still a number of well-preserved (fortified) country houses around Langbroek. In Cothen you can get off your bike to take a look at Kasteel Rhijnestein, which originally dates from the thirteenth century. The area around the centuries-old castle is a protected village view. In the village you will also pass Oog in't Zeil, a corn mill from 1869. The route then takes you along the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal towards Fort't Hemeltje. Further on is the replica of a Roman watchtower. The route ends at Buitengoed de Boomgaard.
