Description

Cycling is wonderful in the Kromme Rijn region. You will find a landscape of vast meadows, orchards and watercourses. This area also has a rich cultural history. For example, there are several well-preserved (fortified) country houses around Langbroek. In Cothen you can stop and take a look at Rhijnestein Castle, which originally dates from the thirteenth century. The area surrounding the centuries-old castle is a protected villagescape. In the village you also pass Oog in't Zeil, a flour mill from 1869. The route then leads you along the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal towards Fort't Hemeltje. Further on is the replica of a Roman watchtower. The route ends at Buitengoed de Boomgaard.
