Description
Woerden is a beautiful town with a rich history. Lace up your walking shoes for a lovely walk full of cultural history and, of course, relaxation.
City Hall
As you walk, you'll experience even more cultural history. Further on, you'll pass the Stedehuys, the former town hall dating back to 1538. You'll also pass the St. Bonaventura Church, built in 1892.
Woerden Castle
Woerden Castle is located on Defensie-eiland, a small peninsula in the canal. The fortress originally dates back to 1415. It was built by order of the Count of Holland to defend Woerden against the Bishop of Utrecht. Therefore, the castle is situated on the east side of the city. Continue along the canal, and the quay is a pleasant walk. Towards the end of the route, you'll pass through the city park, which is located on the Bredius Estate.
