Description
Woerden is a beautiful town with a rich history. Put on your walking shoes for a beautiful trip full of cultural history and of course relaxation.
Stedehuys
While walking you will experience much more cultural history. Further on you will pass, for example, the Stedehuys, the former town hall from 1538. You will also pass the Sint-Bonaventura church from 1892.
Castle Woerden
Woerden Castle is located on Defense Island, a small peninsula in the canal. The fortress originally dates from 1415. It was built by order of the count of Holland to defend Woerden against the bishop of Utrecht. Therefore, the castle is located on the east side of the city. You walk further along the canal, it is nice to walk on the quay. Towards the end of the route you walk through the city park that is located on Landgoed Bredius.
