Woerden is a beautiful town with a rich history. Put on your walking shoes for a beautiful tour full of cultural history and of course relaxation.
Stedehuys
While walking you will experience much more cultural history. Further on you will pass the Stedehuys, the former town hall from 1538. You will also pass the St. Bonaventure Church from 1892.
Woerden Castle
Woerden Castle is located on the Defense Island, a peninsula in the canal. The fortress originally dates from 1415. It was built on behalf of the Count of Holland to defend Woerden against the Bishop of Utrecht. That is why the castle is located on the east side of the city. You continue along the canal, it is nice to walk along the quay. Towards the end of the route you walk through the city park located on the Bredius Estate.
