Description

Your route starts at Gasterij Berg & Dal. On the edge of Slenaken, you'll pass the St. Anna Chapel, dating from 1715, at the intersection of Kerkdelstraat and Schilbergerweg. From here, you'll cross the border into the Belgian Voer region, where you'll visit the village of Teuven. A little further on, you'll cross the Gulp Valley, one of the most beautiful stream valleys in the Netherlands. The Gulp is a fast-flowing tributary of the Geul River. This is one of the most beautiful spots in the entire Gulp Valley: you'll pass Beusdael Castle, the oldest parts of which date back to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Then you'll discover the Beusdael Forest with its beautiful vistas. The Teuvenerberg Forest Reserve is home to unusual animals such as hazel dormice, a rare species of dormouse. You'll also see the characteristic sunken lanes.
