Description
The Schatberg is a beautiful nature reserve in Limburg's Peel. Put on your walking shoes and come discover the charm of this forest.
Golf course
The route starts at De Turfhoeve. The first part of your route you walk through a mix of grasslands and forests. You walk along the edge of a golf course where the tightly landscaped greens form a beautiful contrast with the surrounding landscape. After a while you walk into the Schatberg. This forest area was created for mining, and you can still see this in the systematic rows of coniferous trees.
Birch avenues
On the other side of the Midden Peelweg you will find more variety. This part of the forest is quite old and has been renovated considerably in recent times. The original avenue structure has been restored and birch trees have been planted along the avenues. You will also find some tufts of heather and drifting sand here. A nice and quiet area, ideal for refueling. You can also do this after a walk at De Turfhoeve with a drink and something tasty.
