Bulb area between Lisse and Voorhout

This area was created by the sanding of the dunes between the Keukenhof area and Voorhout. Between Spekkelaan and Essenlaan there is a unique area with colorful bulb fields (in spring) bordered by hedgerows. Further south there are large areas of open bulb area with beautiful views of the old roads such as the Oude Herenweg and the Loosterweg.

Lageveense Polder

In the countryside you pass through the Lageveense Polder. Here you will find a coppice forest and moist, flowery grasslands. And a striking peace. Ideal to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind you. Along the seventeenth-century canal between Leiden and Haarlem, you pass the Hogeveensemolen, a polder mill from 1654, on the other side of the water. You also pass the Lageveensemolen from 1890.

Keukenhof

Flower lover? Then pay a visit to the famous Keukenhof. You can also visit the seventeenth-century Keukenhof Castle Estate. The ornamental garden of the flower bulb exhibition and the Keukenhof forest are located on a remnant of the old dunes. The forest is characterized by old beech avenues with here and there plantings of pine and spruce. Of great importance because of special plants, mosses and breeding birds.
