Cycling in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen means fully enjoying the peace and space in the polders. You will also pass through some old towns, such as the picturesque fortified town of Hulst.
Fortified town of Hulst
The route starts within the old fortress walls of Hulst. There is a lot to see in this beautiful old town, such as the fifteenth-century St. Willibrordus Basilica. A few years ago it was declared the most beautiful church in the Netherlands. On the Grote Markt you will see some centuries-old buildings, such as the beautiful Gothic town hall from 1534. You will also pass the Stadsmolen, a flour mill from 1792. You drive out of the fortified city through the Double Gate from 1620.
Bird Creek
In the countryside of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen you drive on car-free roads lined with tall trees. You will pass the Vogelkreek, one of the oldest creeks in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. In Lamswaarde you will see St. Cornelius, a church from 1873. You drive back through the polders to Hulst.
