Provided by: Groots Genieten
You can take a beautiful walk over Landgoed Waardenburg and Neerijnen. You enjoy the natural beauty, but also the many sights.
Neerijnen Castle
The characteristic building from 1951 is a former switching station of an energy company. After you have walked a bit through the polder, you walk onto the fourteenth-century Landgoed Neerijnen. The current country house was built around 1600. In Neerijnen you pass a few old farms and a beautiful church from 1865. In the park forest designed by Leonard Springer it is wonderfully quiet for a walk.
Castle Waardenburg
On the Waalbandijk you pass the Molen Waardenburg, a thatched corn mill dating from 1780. Castle Waardenburg is also located in this idyllic setting. The original building from 1265 was destroyed during the Eighty Years' War. The current castle dates from the seventeenth century. Doctor Faust van Waardenburg is said to have lived here.
