A trip through the Schoorlse Dunes and the polders

The route starts with an extensive lunch at Restaurant De Watersnip. Then you cycle to the Schoorlse Duinen: one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. A century ago, this was still one large sandpit. Now you see open drifting dunes, wet plains, dense forests and heathlands. In between all that natural beauty you cycle to Bergen and Bergen aan Zee. When the weather is nice, you can walk barefoot through the surf, always fun. At The Sandbar you can make a pit stop on the beach in the summer. At Grand Café Plein you can enjoy a delicious meal, after which you cycle via the Pettermerduinen to the Zijpe- and Hazepolder. A characteristic Dutch landscape of vast grasslands, rare pontoon bridges and old mills. What a varied bike ride!
