Description
Put on your walking shoes for a day full of variety. This route takes you through the Kampina, a vast nature reserve near Oisterwijk.
Fens
From the starting point you quickly enter the Kampina, a vast nature reserve. During the first part you walk through a mosaic of forest and agricultural land. And suddenly you find yourself at the edge of a vast heathland. Wow! What peace. In and around the fens you can find special plant species, such as sundew: a carnivorous plant.
Valley of the Beerze
On the edge of the Kampina you will find a mixture of forests, stream valleys and former agricultural land. You walk along the Banisveld, a semi-open landscape of groves, shrubs and flowery grasslands. You have a nice view of this from the lookout tower. You will also find plenty of variety between moist forests and grasslands in the Beerze Valley. From junction 23 you look out on swampy meadows that may flood. What a wonderfully rugged landscape!
