Walking through the Kampina

Put on your walking shoes for a day full of variety. This route takes you through the Kampina, a vast nature reserve near Oisterwijk.

Fens
From the starting point you quickly enter the Kampina, an extensive nature reserve. The first part you walk through a mosaic of forest and agricultural land. And suddenly you are at the edge of an extensive heathland. Wow! What peace. In and around the fens you can find special plant species, such as sundew: a carnivorous plant.

Valley of the Beerze
On the edge of the Kampina you will find a mixture of forests, stream valleys and former agricultural lands. You will walk along the Banisveld, a semi-open landscape of copses, thickets and flowery grasslands. From the lookout tower you have a beautiful view of this. In the Dal van de Beerze you will also find plenty of variation between damp forests and grasslands. From junction 23 you look out over marshy meadows that may flood. What a wonderfully rugged landscape!
