A beautiful walk from Bunnik

From Bunnik you can walk straight into the fields at the foot of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Put on your walking shoes for a route full of natural beauty along the Kromme Rijn.

Old towpath
The route starts at't Wapen van Bunnik. Grab a seat here on a terrace before you head out. You pass the beautiful twelfth-century Old Village Church. You will also pass some beautiful old farms. Along the Kromme Rijn it is wonderfully quiet to walk on the old towpath that now serves as a footpath. Here you can enjoy the beauty of the landscape along the rippling water.

Utrecht country estates
De Breul estate is located at the foot of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The estate originally dates from the fifteenth century. Now you walk through a park laid out in the English landscape style. The current appearance of the country house dates from 1929. A little later you walk through Blikkenburg, another old estate. The adjacent Wulperhorst country estate dates from the nineteenth century, where you can also walk in peace and quiet through the beautiful nature.
