Description
The Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve is a quiet wetland area that is ideal for a walk. Put on your hiking boots and enjoy all the beautiful flora and fauna that can be found here. This route takes you through the Oostvaardersveld, the habitat of all kinds of birds.
Walking along the Langepad
The Visitor Center Oostvaardersplassen is the starting point of this route. Pay a visit to this center and learn more about the nature in this area before you set off. Then you know which special plants and animals to look out for along the way. Then it's time to really go out and see everything with your own eyes. You walk through a varied landscape full of reed marshes, water features, grassy plains, bushes and forests. You follow the marked purple route 't Langepad. Part of the route runs along the edge of the Keersluisplas.
Birdwatching huts
Along this lake and also in the rest of the area you will find several hides where you can spot birds in peace. You can spot geese, spoonbills and cormorants here. If you are lucky you can even see the rare bald eagle here. You also walk a bit through the Praambos while you walk back to the visitor center.
