Description
This route takes you across two Zeeland icons: the Zeeland Bridge and of course the Oosterscheldekering. That will be a nice breath of fresh air, while you enjoy the views over the water.
Zeeland Bridge
Soon you drive into Colijnsplaat. In the Voorstraat you can enjoy the historic atmosphere through the many beautiful monumental buildings. You will see the Nooitgedacht and Oude Molen, two beautiful flour mills. What a surprisingly nice place! You can already see the Zeeland Bridge from afar. This iconic bridge was completed in 1965 and has a length of five kilometers. At the harbor in Zierikzee you can see the medieval North and South harbor gates, wow!
Slot Haamstede
You pass Slot Haamstede, a national monument from the thirteenth century. You may be ready for a break again. That is possible at Paviljoen Duinzigt! You drive back to Schouwen-Duiveland via the Oosterscheldekering. You pass Neeltje Jans, the famous work island where sprinter André Greipel won a Tour stage in 2015. An exhibition about the Delta Works can be seen here in the information centre.
