Description
It is wonderful to cycle around Dinxperlo on both sides of the German-Dutch border. You will find a lot of peace and natural beauty here. And nice villages.
Anholt Castle
You drive to Suderwick, the town with which Dinxperlo is a twin village. Then you cycle for a while along the Aa-strang, a river that forms the border between the Netherlands and Germany. Anholt Castle is an impressive German moated castle that houses a museum. There are works by Dutch masters such as Rembrandt and Jan van Goyen.
Beautiful Dinxperlo
Just like in Germany, cycling in the Achterhoek is nice and quiet through a mosaic of fields, grasslands, streams and bocage forests. You will pass the Teunismolen from 1822. Back in Dinxperlo you can admire the beautiful old St. Liborius Church. Behind the church you will find the Borderland Museum, which is housed in a monumental building from 1787. Here you get a nice picture of life in a border village: Dinxperlo and Suderwick were already bisected by the border in 1766.
