Views of Schouwen-Duiveland

Schouwen-Duiveland has everything that makes a bike ride across an island so special. Views over the water, characteristic villages such as Brouwershaven and plenty of natural beauty.

Old mills
After you have loosened your legs between Den Osse and Scharendijke, you drive into the polder. You pass Molen de Lelie, a flour mill from 1868. Further on you see Molen 't Hert, a flour mill from 1748. On top of this mill there is a weather bar in the shape of a deer, hence the name. It is then wonderfully peaceful to cycle in the dunes near Renesse. When the weather is nice you can step into the surf barefoot. After Burgh Haamstede it is nice to take a break at Bar Petit Restaurant't Oliegeultje.

Plompetoren
You pass Haamstede Castle, a national monument from the thirteenth century. A little later you cycle along the Oosterschelde. From the road you have a beautiful view over the rippling water. The Plompetoren is an old church tower from 1468. You can climb it for a unique panorama. It is wonderful to cycle along the water. At junction 89 you head inland again. On to Brouwershaven where 'T Swarte Schaep is a great place to stay!
