Description
Just below The Hague it is wonderful to cycle through the Westland. You will find natural beauty and cozy places full of history.
Ockenburgh estate
The route starts in the dunes just below Monster. On the path you drive along the dike, in the polders you see the many greenhouses for which Westland is known. Just past Monster you drive through the Solleveld, a varied nature reserve consisting of dunes, grasslands and forests. A lovely stretch of route to get some fresh air. Further on you drive through Ockenburgh Estate, a country estate that originally dates from the seventeenth century.
Terrace on the water
Further on you will be introduced to some natural oases in The Hague, such as the Voorde: a former country estate. In the Hoekpolder on the edge of the city you pass the Schaapweimolen, a beautiful polder mill from 1826. You drive back to the starting point through the picturesque towns of Honselersdijk and 's-Gravenzande.
