This route takes you along the banks of the Oosterschelde. You drive through Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord-Beveland. It will be nice to get a breath of fresh air and enjoy views over the water and the special nature reserves.

Zeeland Bridge
At the Oude Haven you can see the medieval North and South Port gates, two of the three remaining city gates of Zierikzee. You can already see the Zeeland Bridge from afar. This iconic bridge was completed in 1965 and has a length of five kilometers.

Picturesque Colijnsplaat
In the Voorstraat of Colijnsplaat you can enjoy the historic atmosphere through the many beautiful monumental buildings. What a nice discovery! From the path in Noord-Beveland you can see the so-called inlays: small polders that lie behind the sea dike in places where people feared a dike breach. These bird-rich polders consist of wet marshes and reed beds. You drive back to Schouwen-Duiveland via the Oosterscheldekering. You pass Neeltje Jans, the famous work island where sprinter André Greipel won a Tour stage in 2015.

The most famous windmill type in the Netherlands. Windmills were not only used to produce flour from cereals, but also for draining polder areas. Natural energy. The most famous windmills can be found in Kinderdijk, which have truly been set up as a polder model. A must see!
