Tour De Meern and Maxima Park

From De Meern you first walk to Castellum Hoge Woerd. In the museum you will learn more about the Roman finds that were made in this area. From the museum a path runs through the orchard to a replica Roman watchtower. From junction 53 you walk through the heart of the Maxima Park. A beautiful area of water features, avenues and bridges. The Viking Rhine is located at junction 52: the original course of the Old Rhine. Drakars once sailed over the water here, now ducks swim here. Further on you will pass Nijeveld: two islands and wall remains of this medieval castle remain. After a pit stop, you walk through a number of parks in De Meern. The route ends with a delicious meal at Brazzerie Abrona.
