Walking in the Barony of Breda

The Baronie van Breda is an extensive nature reserve around Breda. This walk takes you through several sub-areas: the Strijbeekse Heide and the Chaambos. The Strijbeekse Heide is wonderfully quiet, so close to the border with Belgium. Further on you will pass a monumental nineteenth-century farm that belongs to the Hondsdonk estate. In the Chaambos, which is just before junction 51, there are pieces of forest that are about 1000 years old. When you leave the forests, you walk on a car-free road through the hamlet of Snijders-Chaam, where you will see a few beautiful thatched farms. Further on you walk along the flowery grasslands, pollard willows and hedgerows of Het Broek. Beautiful!
