The beautiful old villages in the Alblasserwaard

First you drive to Alblasserdam. Further on, the Kinderdijk Mills await you: a centuries-old mill corridor that is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Cycling along the Lek is beautiful, while looking out over the rippling water. You will pass through the fortified town of Nieuwpoort. The famous Battle of Nieuwpoort did not take place here, but in the Belgian town of the same name. Ameide is also on your route. This town with its many historic buildings is one of the oldest cities in Holland. You can get off at the Maria Johanna Hoeve for a tasty snack and drink. Completely refreshed, you drive the last part of this route. It takes you through the vast polder land and through picturesque ribbon villages. The route ends at Vertoeven near Verhoeven, a comfortable place to stay.
