Description
With its many old buildings, canals and cozy atmosphere, it is always nice to take a walk through Utrecht. This route takes you through the old center and along some city parks.
Oudwijk
This park was laid out in 1898 in the English landscape style. Further on you pass the Rosarium Oudwijk, a surprising place from 1913. You walk past two nineteenth-century capital houses surrounded by a small park: Het Hoogeland and de Oorsprong. You walk along the Biltsche Grift to the Griftpark. How surprisingly green Utrecht is!
Curved Rhine
The route takes you along the Stadsbuitengracht and Oudegracht, two medieval watercourses. Here you see Utrecht at its best. Old bridges, monumental buildings, the Stadshuis building: Utrecht is so beautiful! Then you walk a bit on the footpath along the Kromme Rijn. It is nice and quiet to walk through the park-like surroundings.
