The Vijlenerbos is a vast nature reserve in South Limburg. Put on your walking shoes and come and experience how wonderful it is to walk here. In the outskirts of the village of Holset you will discover some beautiful sights.
Picturesque Holset
Here you can see the old HH Lambertus and Genoveva church. You will also pass the Lambertus spring, according to legend, it was already blessed in 692 by expelling a hellish dragon. In the outlying area you cross the Hermansbeek, the fastest flowing stream in the Netherlands.
Castle Vaelsbroek
Deciduous trees mainly grow in the Vijlenerbos. What a beautiful and peaceful walk here. Further on you will pass Kasteel Vaelsbroek, a pleasure castle whose origins date back to the fifteenth century. The current U-shaped classicist mansion dates from 1761. Don't forget your camera, because the building is a picture. The Vaalsbroekermolen from 1776 is also located on the estate. A little later you pass the Frankenhofmolen, a water mill from 1736.
