Description
Gemert is good for a day of cycling. There are beautiful nature reserves in the area and you can easily pass the time in the village itself.
Gemert Castle is a striking sight. This national monument originally dates from 1391. The current main building dates from 1740, a corner pavilion from 1563 and a front gate from around 1600. All this is surrounded by extensive lands with authentic farms. From junction 10 you drive through the Klotterpeel. This pristine reserve breathes the atmosphere of the time before the great reclamations. A little later you drive past an extensive heathland that is part of the De Stippelberg nature reserve. Just past the hamlet of Grotel you drive through the Grotelse Bos, which is part of the Biezen en Milschot nature reserve.
