ED History of trials in the Kempen

In the heart of the Kempen you will find the Eight Beatitudes: Eersel, Duizel, Steensel, Knegsel, Wintelre, Reusel, Hulsel and Netersel. In the past, all those place names ended in"sel\\\" and were called"selligheden\\\". But Dutch soldiers who were stationed here during the Belgian Revolution scornfully called the villages "the wretches". With this route you drive through both Duizel and Wintelre. You also cycle through the Hoogeloon area. This region has been inhabited since the Iron Age and Roman remains have also been found. In Vessem, a little further away, there are beautiful old farms. Special: a rectangular lawn is the central village square.
