Walking through Ootmarsum and the Springendal

The beautiful old town of Ootmarsum is best explored on foot. The Springendal is a stunning nature reserve nicknamed "the Garden of the Netherlands." You'll pass Engels Tuin, a unique little park. Then, stroll along an unpaved path past meadows and fields, over the rolling Kersberg. Back in Ootmarsum, the old town center exudes a charming and historic atmosphere. One of the highlights is the Church of St. Simon and St. Judas. Originally dating from the thirteenth century, it is the only church in the Netherlands built in the Westphalian Romanesque-Gothic style. The Educatorium Ootmarsum is housed in a seventeenth-century half-timbered building.
