Description

Your cycling route starts with a cup of coffee at Grand Café and Hotel Broeck Oudewater. Centuries-old towns, the beautifully meandering Dutch IJssel, a vast lake area home to numerous special plants: this route is very varied! Oudewater is the oldest town in the Groene Hart, a beautiful place to start your day out. You follow the Hollandse IJssel to another historic town: Gouda, with its attractive, historic center. You pass right past the fifteenth-century Gothic St. John's Church, beautiful! At 123 meters, the church building is the longest in the Netherlands and has characteristic roofs. Close to the cheese city, you can enjoy cycling on and around Reeuwijkse Plassen. Large water features, forests and meadows characterize the area. The cuckoo flower, cuckoo flower, marsh herb and crabgrass grow lush in the former polder.
