Follow the Laarzenpad across the Keukenhof estate

Search for gnomes
At the start of the route you walk through the forests and other beautiful landscapes. Look around you carefully, because there are several garden gnomes hidden in the landscape of this estate. Feel free to take your family out and make it a fun treasure hunt for gnomes.

Keukenhof Castle
Then you continue walking through the Keukenhof estate . At the beginning of the route you walk close to the impressive Keukenhof castle . This castle was built in 1642 as a country house for a former commander of the VOC. Over the centuries, the castle has been further expanded to the current structure. The castle houses a special collection of historic furniture and portraits. If you book in advance, you can take a look at the castle on Sundays accompanied by a guide.

Stroll along Leidsevaart
The last part of the route takes you along Leidsevaart, a canal that used to be an important route for barges between Haarlem and Leiden. This canal was dug in 1657. Nowadays there is no longer sailing on this water, because several fixed bridges have been constructed along the length of this canal.

Please note: Part of this route runs through the Keukenhof grounds. This park is only accessible from the end of March to mid-May for a fee. The rest of the year you cannot follow this part of the route. Take a look at the Keukenhof website for exact opening times and entrance fees.
