A varied walk through beautiful Gouda

Reeuwijkse Plassen
The peat that was extracted from the ground here centuries ago was used, among others, by Gouda beer brewers. From the path before junction 14 you have a beautiful view over the Elfhoevenplas. It is wonderfully peaceful to walk along the car-free dikes that separate the lakes.

Along the Hollandse IJssel you pass the Waaiersluis, a monument from 1862. Mill't Slot is a flour mill from 1832. Walking along the Oosthavenkade it seems as if you are walking in another time. A feeling that becomes even stronger when you walk into the historic city center. On the Markt you will see beautiful buildings, including the sixteenth-century Herthuis and the Kaaswaag from 1670. And of course the beautiful fifteenth-century town hall, the icon of the city.
