Description

In the polders along the Lek you will find a beneficial mix of peace, views and historic mills. You will also pass through charming old towns.

The Loetbos
The route starts in the vast Alblasserwaard. You will reach the famous Kinderdijkse Mills in no time: a unique piece of Dutch heritage. It is not without reason that these beautiful eighteenth-century mills are on the World Heritage List. What a beautiful region for cycling! You can cross the Lek to the Krimpenerwaard by ferry. Here you cycle through water-rich polders, but also through the Loetbos, which takes its name from the river De Loet.

Molenkade
In Bergambacht you can enjoy a pancake at Onder de Molen. Just past Groot-Ammers you drive along the Molenkade past four polder mills. The quartet forms a beautiful Dutch picture. The Gelkenes Molen and the Achterlandse Molen are the oldest, dating from 1596.
