Cycling route Medemblik, Midwoud and Twisk

Between Medemblik and Wognum, you'll discover beautiful old farmhouses and expansive views over the polder. First, you'll explore the historic heart of Medemblik. Near junction 22 stands the station of the former railway line that ran from here to Hoorn. Until 1936, this line was operated by the Hollandsche IJzeren Spoorweg-Maatschappij, the first railway company in the Netherlands. West of Onderdijk, you'll cycle along De Groote Vliet, a waterway with a mix of grasslands, reed beds, and forests. Further on, you'll pass a similar nature reserve: the Egboetswater. Stop at Grand Café de Post in Midwoud for a drink on a pleasant terrace, after which you'll continue on to Abbekerk and Twisk. A little further on, you'll pass another station building on the Medemblik-Hoorn line.
