Between Oosterhout and Breda you will find a green area with alternating polders and forests. Enjoy a stroll through nature and the charming Brabant towns in this area. Along the way you can admire various sights to make your trip even more interesting.
Mill De Hoop
The center of Oosterhout is the starting point of this cycling tour. From here you cycle to the De Hoop mill in Den Hout. This flour mill was built in 1837 as the fourth mill in Oosterhout. The millers of the other three mills in Oosterhout were not happy with the construction of this mill, because they saw their income decrease. After the Second World War the mill was replaced by an electric mill, after which the mill came to a standstill. Nowadays the mill still runs occasionally, but it is no longer used for grinding. From here you cycle further along the Markkanaal to Breda.

You see little of the military past of this redoubt, because now you will find lush natural beauty there. In 2007, a number of pools were constructed around the fortress to connect the Vuchtpolder and the nature reserve around the fortress.
