Description
The Noordoostpolder is a wonderful mix of old and new land. Between the vast polders and new nature you will find Urk and Schokland, two historic gems.
On Urk
The route starts at the old harbor of the former island of Urk. This island feeling lives on among the inhabitants: they still talk about'Op Urk\\\'. Outside the town it is wonderful to cycle through the vast polders. You will also find surprising nature, such as the Tollebekerbos. A typical example of the forests that were created in the 1950s near every village in the Noordoostpolder. These forests served as a buffer against the cold wind from the (north) west.
World Heritage Schokland
You then cycle along the edge of the Ketelmeer, taking a trip to Schokland: just like Urk, a former island in the Zuiderzee.
