Experience the silence in the Gelderse Valley

This route takes you through the Gelderse Vallei between Amersfoort and Ede. It's a wonderfully peaceful place to cycle and enjoy the cultural history. Just before junction 76, for example, you'll pass the former Fort Daatselaar from 1799, a beautiful spot that was part of the Grebbe Line. Scherpenzeel is a picturesque village that once occupied a strategic position on the border of Guelders and Utrecht. Here you'll see the monumental Reformed Church from 1300. Along the Valleikanaal (Valley Canal), you'll cycle to Leusden, and further on, you'll pass through De Schammer: a rugged landscape of flower-filled meadows, marshland, waving reeds, and gushing streams. This is how the entire Gelderse Vallei once looked. Finally, you'll see the Walderveense Mill from 1895. The route ends at Hotel & Eethuys De Wormshoef.
