Eindhoven: Herdgang / Wielewaal / Meerbos

I parked my car in a residential area, really at junction 15 directly opposite the Evoluon (see photo). Perhaps more convenient is the parking lot at the Eigenwijs Petting Zoo, on the edge of the Philip van Lenneppark. The Philips De Jonghpark is a great alternative, there are many benches, there is a restaurant and it is a popular picnic area. 

AREA + ROUTE:

The route is very suitable for runners and partly runs through city parks, but also around the grounds of Welschap Golf Course. Then you walk a long way on the (previously unpaved) cycle path along the Beatrix Canal. The route from Junction 72 to 71 is quite unsafe: the road is narrow, there is no footpath and the verge is overgrown with nettles. So you have to walk quite a distance on a road with a lot of traffic to and from Eindhoven Airport and the business park around it. If you like spotting planes, you can walk from 72 towards 70. That is about 350 meters, there may be a car where you can buy something to eat or drink. On the way to junction 71 you walk along the Anthony Fokkerweg along a not very interesting stretch, but it does take you into the greenery of De Herdgang where it is pleasant to walk. The route ends with a stretch through Drents Dorp, traditionally a working-class district built by Philips for Philips employees.
