Description
North of Zoetermeer you will find a quiet polder area including the Zoetermeerse Plas. This area is perfect for a walk to completely clear your head. Sometimes it's wonderful to hear nothing but the sound of the wind and birdsong.
Into the polders
The edge of Zoetermeer is the starting point of this route. A little further along the route you will find the Zoetermeer City Museum in't Oude Huis. This museum is located in a former mayor's house from 1872. Until 1931, this house was inhabited by several mayors. Admire this beautiful building from the outside or step inside to learn more about Zoetermeer. Then you walk along the edge of the Buytenpark into the polders around Zoetermeer. You will pass the hulls of the upper mill and the lower Zoetermeersepolder mill. These mills ensured that the Zoetermeersepolder did not flood for years.
