Monnickendam has a well-preserved old center. Ideal for exploring via a walk. With this route you can also get a breath of fresh air on the dike.
Museum
Then you walk through the most beautiful streets of Monnickendam. Here you will see many centuries-old buildings with a bell, stepped or pointed gable. You will also pass the Play Tower. This historic town hall tower has the oldest hand-playable carillon in the Netherlands. A museum has been located in the tower since 1981. Further on is the centuries-old Town Hall.
Gouwzee
The Grote Kerk was built in the fifteenth century in the Gothic style. From here you walk along a leafy footpath along the old moat. You make a shortcut to the city park, after which you walk on the dike along the Gouwzee. Get some fresh air and watch the rippling water.
