Typical fishing villages around Monnickendam

Your bike tour starts at Camping and Restaurant Strandbad Edam. On the former Zuiderzee are many old fishing villages with a unique historical atmosphere and typical Dutch cosiness. You first make a tour through the beautiful old Purmerend and then enjoy coffee or lunch at Paviljoen Strandbad Edam. From the dike you can see your next destination on the horizon: the characteristic Volendam. You drive here through the historic old center. From Volendam you take the ferry to the authentic Marken. You drive back through the old heart of Monnickendam. You can see many centuries-old bell, stepped and gabled gables here. You will also pass the old Speeltoren, which is now a museum. Cycling along the dike you look out over the grassy polders of the Waterland.
