Description
In the area around Tiel and Wijk bij Duurstede you will find a water-rich area with canals, rivers and lakes. This area is popular among water sports enthusiasts, but a bike ride along the water is also absolutely worth it. Jump on your bike and let us take you along the most beautiful places in Gelderland.
Water-rich natural areas
The first part of this route takes you along several lakes, including the Lingemeer. This lake is a recreational lake of 80 hectares that was created by sand extraction. Around the lake you will find the Lingedael estate. This estate is gradually being expanded with more water and nature. A little further on you cycle over a bridge over the Nederrijn to Rhenen and then you cycle into the forests on the edge of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. In the meantime, take a break at the Wapen van Elst with a delicious cup of coffee and something tasty. Then cycle on and enjoy the greenery around you and work up a sweat on the many small hills that can be found in this area. Once you are out of the forest, you cycle along the course of the Nederrijn to Wijk bij Duurstede.
