Manneken Pis in Geraardsbergen
You start your walking tour in the middle of the Markt in the center of Geraardsbergen. Here you will find the Marbol fountain, Manneken Pis, City Hall and St. Bartholomew's Church. When you think of Manneken Pis, you might think of Brussels rather than Geraardsbergen, but this tradition is also taken very seriously here. Geraardsbergen even claims to have an older image than Brussels. Once you've admired these sights, it's time to really hit the road. You walk through the city past St. Adrian's Abbey. This historic Benedictine abbey is surrounded by the Abbey Park with landscaped water features and all kinds of vegetation.

Old industries
Then you walk a bit along the course of the river Dender just outside the city. Here you can enjoy the nature around Geraardsbergen for a while. Then you walk back into the city past various Geraardsberg museums where the former characteristic industries of Geraardsbergen are central, such as the match industry. Eventually you will arrive at the market of Geraardsbergen.

Saint Bartholomew's Church
An unmissable sight in this city is the Saint Bartholomew's Church. This is the largest church in Geraardsbergen. The original church was built in the 12th century and this church was expanded in the 16th century. Over the centuries, the appearance of the church has changed somewhat, but in general the church still looks about as it did about 500 years ago.
