Old windmills in the bulb region

This route takes you along the Kagerplassen and through the bulb region. You will enjoy colorful fields and wide views over the water. On the way you pass many old mills.

Old mills
The route starts at Hotel Villa Flora. Drink a cup of coffee here before you cycle into the wide polders. It is wonderful to make kilometers here on the dike along the ring canal. In Buitenkaag you drive past the Gemaal De Leeghwater from 1845. Here you have a nice view over the water of the Kagerplassen. In this region you see many old mills. The Lijkermolen 1 and 2 are the only twelve-sided windmills in the Netherlands.

Picturesque places
Rijpwetering and Oude Ade are two picturesque villages. Squeeze your brakes to enjoy the characteristic atmosphere here. The Vrouw Venne is a seventeenth-century polder mill. The Dorpsstraat in Warmond also exudes the atmosphere of days gone by. Further on you will pass the Keukenhof. As a flower lover you naturally want to get off here and experience all the scents and colors. At Hotel Villa Flora you can enjoy a delicious meal after getting off.
