The surprising nature around Barendrecht

You can take a bike ride around Barendrecht through a surprisingly natural countryside. In the town itself you can still experience the friendly atmosphere of the village that Barendrecht once was.

Old Meuse
From Barendrecht Station you can drive straight into the countryside. It is surprisingly green cycling here! On the Noldijk you can see a beautiful eighteenth-century farm. You cross the Waaltje, a dead estuary. In Heerjansdam you pass the fifteenth-century village church. Between the many trees that grow along the river, you cycle to Pannekoekenhuis Oude Maas. Here you can enjoy a drink and something delicious, while you have a fantastic view of the shipping traffic.

Carnisse Grienden
You drive through the nature-rich Vredepolder to the Jan Gerritsepolder. Here you will find theGaatsensbult, a lookout hill that was created during the construction of a residential area. On the hump is a special mirror: the artwork'Sky, Moon, Mirror, Environment\\\'. Further on you drive through the Carnisse Grienden, a strip of land consisting of rare freshwater tidal pilot whales. What a beautiful nature reserve! In the Dorpsstraat of Barendrecht you can still see an old farm and the village church from 1512.
