Tour Berne Abbey near Heeswijk

First you walk along the edge of the park that belongs to the Berne Abbey, the oldest monastic community in the Netherlands. This Norbertine abbey has been located in Heeswijk since the late nineteenth century. then you walk through the fields. You pass through the Hommelse Hoeven and Bernische Hoeven, further on you pass the Meierijsche Museum Farm. In this educational center you will learn more about the life, work and living of the farming population on the poor sandy soil of the Meierij. You also walk a bit along the natural bank of the Leigraaf, a canalized stream that was once a damp depression.
