Along the Maas near Ravenstein

Your route starts at Het Grote Broertje in the lovely Grave. Along the Maas, which forms the border between North Brabant and Gelderland, it is wonderful to cycle with a view of the grasslands, forests and the rippling water. Further on you pass through the protected village view of Megen. Here you see the Gevangenpoort, a fourteenth-century gate tower that was once part of the demolished wall. On the other side of the historic village of Megen you cross the Maas with a ferry. At Appeltern you will pass Stoomgemaal De Tuut: the only one of the 34 steam pumping stations in the Gelderland river area that still exists. Get off at Leur for the Visitor Center Land of the Lordships Leur: here the lands of the former manor are well preserved.
