Tour of Almelo from Markelo

Your route starts at Hessenheem Outdoor Centre Holiday Park. Today you'll cycle to Almelo, where it's surprisingly pleasant to cycle through the old city center with its striking Gravenallee. You'll cycle through the Borkeld nature reserve to Rijssen. In the charming city of Almelo, you'll soak up some cultural history. You'll pass the beautiful Grote Kerk (Great Church) and the Wevershuisje city farm, housed in a farmhouse from the early 1600s. You'll leave the city along the Gravenallee: the 3.5-kilometer driveway of Huize Almelo. Along the path are several historic farmhouses in a park-like setting. You'll cycle back to your starting point via Bornerbroek. You'll also pass through Enter, the clog-making village. On the Brink, you'll find the world's largest clog, made from a single piece of wood.
