Bruges offers you an unforgettable cycling experience in a setting of picturesque alleys, romantic canals and countless monuments. In the countryside you cycle through the quiet farmlands and polders.
Ghent Gate
The route starts on the Pandreitje, a beautiful old street in the middle of Bruges. Here you can still see the partly seventeenth-century gatehouse of the demolished prison. The Gentpoortstraat dates back to the thirteenth century! At the end you will see the fifteenth-century Ghent Gate, one of the four remaining city gates. When you leave Bruges, you drive into a landscape of old forests and fields. The closer you approach the border with the Netherlands, the more extensive polders you see.
Kruispoort
You briefly cross the Dutch border. Here you drive along De Kruisvest, a wide promenade on the former fortress. There are still four old mills here, such as the Sint-Janshuismolen. At the end is the fifteenth-century Kruispoort. What a history!
