Walking through the Heerlijckheid Gemert.

Gemert is ideal for a beautiful long walk. This route takes you through the historic core of this old Brabant village. You also walk through the wooded farmlands where you see some authentic farms.

Knight's Square
On the other side you can take a look at the St. Jans Onthoofding church from 1437, before you pass Gemert Castle a little later. This castle originally dates from 1391, the current main building dates from 1740. You have a beautiful view from the cozy square full of cafes. Further on is a beautiful monumental long-gabled farm.

The Bies
In the countryside you walk between fields and flowery grasslands along a stream to De Biezen. This beautiful nature reserve consists of marsh forest and dry oak forest. An ideal moment to enjoy the silence, or to chat with your fellow hiker(s). You can also completely relax in the Grotelse Bos with its fragrant conifers. On the edge of Gemert you pass the Volksvriend, a former flour mill from 1887.
