Walking over South Limburg's hilltops

You can walk a beautiful route over the Limburg hills between Wittem, Mechelen and Vijlen. You will enjoy beautiful panoramas, cultural history and Burgundian life.

Fruit orchards
The route starts near the Redemptorist Monastery in Wittem. This sight originally dates from 1733. You then walk along the footpath through flower-rich meadows, past forests and orchards. You can also walk a bit along the banks of the Selzerbeek. What a pleasure it is here! On the edge of Vijlen you pass Hotel Vijlerhof. An ideal place for a stopover with a terrace and something tasty.

Geuldal
In Rott you pass several monumental half-timbered farms. They date back to the eighteenth century! While you enjoy beautiful views, you descend to Mechelen, another picturesque place. A little later you walk through the Geuldal, one of the most beautiful stream valleys in the Netherlands. It is wonderful to walk along the river. For many Dutch people, this area automatically feels like a day abroad, i.e. a holiday. At the end of your route you can take a look at Wittem Castle.
