Bakelse Bos and Berkendonk route [Helmond-East]

I had parked my car at the Braakseweg in Helmond, near the Bakelsebos, but the most practical point is at the Berkendonk recreation area. This is clearly indicated, has a large parking lot and is also freely accessible. In the summer you can also have an excellent picnic there.

ENVIRONMENT:

I found the part that runs through the city uninteresting. Just a new housing estate, not a lot of greenery. In short: there is little interesting to see. The route runs all the way around the Berkenbonk, but the second half of the route from junction 28 to 25 is not much, because you can't see anything of the fen there.

NOTE: I had not seen junction 25. This is located on the left just over a small bridge (De Oude Aa) and just behind a bush. From here it is a bit difficult to walk, but here you have beautiful views of meadows on the one side and eventually also a small stone beach from which you can look out over Berkendonk. I sat here for a while, wonderfully quiet. That makes this otherwise somewhat boring route worthwhile!
